Kina Rwanda at the International Day of an African Child 2022
We were invited to showcase our work during the International Day of an African Child. The event was attended by the Minister of Gender and family planning, the governor of the eastern province, Mayor of Bugesera and other partners in the education sector like Unicef and FXB|Sugira Muryango.
This event was a great opportunity to meet other partners in the play sector and discuss potential partnerships. Kina Rwanda were interviewed by the Rwanda Television about the Play Caravan and other interventions, which provided significant coverage about the movement.
Play included in CHOGM Sideline events
Kina Rwanda were invited to partner with Kigali public library to showcase our learning through play activities during the visit of the First Lady of Rwanda and the Duchess of Cornwall. We were given a segment to present our work, as well as the play corners displayed in the library. The event was a huge success in raising the profile of Kina Rwanda and the importance of learning through play leading up to the Play Caravan in Kigali.
Kina Rwanda and the city of Kigali
The City of Kigali cemented their relationship with Kina Rwanda through signing an MOU, which includes monthly collaborations and events in partnership with other play partners. As part of this partnership, Kina Rwanda will host training sessions with City Youth volunteers in order to become Play Champions, and play will be included in the monthly ‘Car Free Day.’
The rhythm of play is on
On the 5th July, we hosted a press event together with Juno Kizigenza announcing that ‘Aye’, Juno’s new hit single featuring DJ Rusam and DJ Higa, is the official theme song of the Kina Rwanda tour. The song will be used to promote children’s play and raise awareness around learning through play among parents and caregivers in Rwanda.
The song is now available on all online platforms including the lyrics video and music video on YouTube.
Kina Rwanda at the National Literacy Day
Kina Rwanda was invited by Kigali Public Library to take part in their National Literacy Day. The guest of honour at the event was the state Minister of Education in charge of primary and secondary school, Gaspard Twagirayezu. We were introduced to the minister and shared some of our work that we’re doing across Rwanda with him. The event was also attended by high level officials like representatives of the American Embassy. It was a great way to elevate Kina Rwanda as a movement of play and have conversations with decision makers.
